COURSES
Passenger Driver Licence Endorsement (P) Course
(Land Transport New Zealand Approved)
- This is a 1/2 day course that covers the Passenger (P) Endorsement theory and Driving Hours & Logbook requirements. On successful completion of the assessment trainees will be competent in Unit Standards 17579 and 15164
- Successful candidates are then issued with a Land Transport New Zealand Approved endorsement certificate that must be presented to a Licensing Issuing agent when applying for a “P” endorsement.
- To apply for your “P” endorsement you will need present the certificate and, if you haven’t done so in the past 5 years, you will need to present a current medical certificate and also sit a full practical licence test. The application process includes a “fit and proper person” check.
Pre-requisites: Trainees must have held a FULL Car (Class 1) drivers licence for at least 2 years.
Cost of the course: Please contact your nearest Master Drive Services branch – Industry Training Subsidies may be available when combined with a Class 2 or Class 4 Approved Licence Course.

Class 2 Heavy Vehicle Driver Licence course
(Land Transport New Zealand Approved)
- A one day theory course plus a practical of between 2 and 4 hours. Vehicles for practical training and assessment are generally provided by Master Drive Services. On successful completion of this course trainees will be competent in the mandatory Class 2 Licence and Driving Hours Logbook unit standards, 17574 and 15164, plus other related units.
- Successful candidates are then issued with a Land Transport New Zealand Approved endorsement certificate that must be presented to a Licensing Issuing agent when applying for a full Class 2 licence.
Pre-requisites: Trainees must have held a FULL Car (Class 1) driver licence for at least 6 months and hold a Class 2L (Learner) Licence (there is no waiting time between obtaining a Class 2L and attending a full Class 2 Approved Course).

(Land Transport New Zealand Approved)
- A one day theory course plus a practical of between 2 and 4 hours. Vehicles for practical training and assessment can be provided by Master Drive Services. On successful completion of this course trainees will be competent in the mandatory Class 4 Licence and Driving Hours Logbook unit standards, 17576 and 15164, plus other related units.

Class 4 Heavy Vehicle Driver Licence Short Course
(Land Transport New Zealand Approved)
- A short course for trainees who have previously obtained their Class 2 licence through having attended and passed an Approved Course. This short course includes a practical drive of up to a maximum of 2 hours plus verification of Driver Hours & Logbook knowledge. On successful completion of this course trainees will be competent in the mandatory Class 4 Licence unit standard 17576.
- Successful candidates are then issued with a Land Transport New Zealand Approved endorsement certificate that must be presented to a Licensing Issuing agent when applying for a full Class 4 licence.
Pre-requisites: Trainees must:
(a) have held a FULL Class 2 driver licence for at least 6 months and hold a Class 4L (Learner) Licence (there is no waiting time between obtaining a Class 4L and attending a full Class 4 Approved Course), and
(b) provide evidence of having completed the Driver Hours & Logbook unit standard as part of an Approved Course.

National Certificate Training
Master Drive Services also offers training for trainees who wish to work towards their National Certificate in Large Passenger Service Vehicle Driver. Courses include both on in classroom and on-job practical training and assessment. Industry Training subsidies of up to 70% may be available to trainees who qualify.
